WiDirect “Hotspot in a Box”

ANNAPOLIS, MD, October 21, 2010 – AllCity Wireless announces its latest upcoming software release for the WiDirect product line: WiDirect ver. 1.5 and “Hotspot in A Box” Firmware for the EnGenius ECB3500.

This latest release has all the features of the WiDirect 1.3, with has added centralized support for Engenius ECB3500 running the WiDirect Client Code for “Hotspot in a Box” applications. The WiDirect can now control multiple stand alone hotspots from a centralized location from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world. This feature is particularly applicable in a chain stores and restaurant environment where there are numerous store fronts and eatery locations, all wanting WIFI access. The new WiDirect code and Access Point combination allows for infinite locations to have centrally controlled WIFI for less than $300 per location with no truck roll. With the WiDirect, the owner can deploy as many hotspots worldwide and all of these separate locations would report back to one main controller: the WiDirect 1.5. The WiDirect would handle all the logins at the various locations, and allow users to have a seamless and fully customizable user experience even when visiting different locations.

Additionally, the WiDirect allows the proprietor of the network to monitor maintain his network without having to be in the field. For example, if an access point at one of his locations experiences a malfunction, the designated administrators would be alerted via email that there is a problem that needs to be addressed. If required, a replacement device can be mailed to the location and have the problem resolved in less than 24 hours for ~ $100. This allows for the operator to be ahead of the curve as opposed to waiting for users to report the problem and avoid the headache of dispatching support on site. The WiDirect Authentication server also offers reporting on any metric the operator wants to create.
